Dinner and a Show in Medieval Spain11th Century Banquets and Tournamets in Lyndhurst, New JerseyJust 15 minutes from Midtown Manhattan is Medieval Times, a show that transports you to Medieval Spain where Kings ruled the land, and Knights protected the innocent.
The dinner attraction known as Medieval Times is inspired by the traditional banquets and tournaments of the 11th century. Medieval Times is a great place to enjoy an excellent meal and show together with the whole family. Guests are served a four-course feast while they watch the storyline unfold before their eyes. As guests of the King, the audience is divided into sections and urged to cheer for one of the six knights as they compete in the joust and other tests of skill. Amazing displays of horsemanship and falconry add to the excitement of the jousting, hand-to-hand combat, and incredible swordsmanship. Full of drama, adventure, and romance, Medieval Times has something that everyone in the family can enjoy. The standard meal includes garlic bread, tomato bisque soup, roasted chicken, spareribs, herb-basted potato, a pastry and beverages. The tasty meal is served up by waiters and waitresses in full costume and character, so as to add to the experience. Vegetarians can pass up the chicken and rib and trade it in for a Portobello mushroom cap stuffed with a whole grain rice and bean blend, a large skewer of roasted veggies, and hummus with pita chips. Just make sure to tell your server your dietary needs upon seating; there is no menu, guests are served automatically. For adult guests, Medieval Times also features an excellent bar and dance floor. In the Hall of Arms you can see displays of medieval artifacts, and the Medieval Torture Museum is sure to send shivers down your spine. For the 2008 season prices are as follows: $54.95 (+tax) for adults and $39.95 (+tax) for children. You may want to upgrade to the Royalty Package, the Kings Royalty Package, or the Celebration Package, all of which ensure preferred seating and other little extras. Although, the stadium style seating that surrounds the performance arena makes it so there isn’t really a bad seat in the whole place. So, if you are sick of the standard night out at the bar or looking for something fun to do with the whole family, look no further than the Lyndhurst Castle at 149 Polito Avenue in Lyndhurst, New Jersey. An evening spent here is truly an exhilarating and unique experience. It is a great way to celebrate special events, or even just to get out of the city for an evening. Most nights shows are held at 7 pm, and afternoon shows are offered every weekend. For more information you can call 1-888-WE-JOUST (1-888-935-6878) or visit the Medieval Times website.
